I am Dr. Jackie Modeste, a career educator and founder of Global-Ed Immersion (GEI) LLC and its sibling organization, The Global-Ed Immersion (GEI) foundation. Together these entities provide transition services, personalized support (academic, personal, professional), scholarships and special programming for international and 1st-generation students enrolled in – or intending to enroll in – US tertiary institutions. For more than three decades, I‘ve supported the work of cultural diplomacy through active engagement with the global community. I’ve given keynote addresses and invited talks at some of the world’s leading organizations advancing collaboration and artful negotiations, including: the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin; the Clinton Institute for American studies in Dublin and the University of Nottingham; served on panels discussing societal malaise and betterment with Ministers of Education, Finance and Labor; met with researchers at the Max Planck Institute and more – always working to build community and trust amongst members of our global community.

My work is ceaseless. I served a six year-tenure on the Columbia University Alumni Board during which time we chartered clubs in Beijing and Shanghai, the region’s largest and most active. My radio show, Trading Fours with Drs. Modeste & Wes, was a weekly gathering of leaders in education, business and jazz. Our guests participated from Azerbaijan, Poland, Germany, Japan, Singapore and the US. We discussed innovation, collaboration and global affairs. After several years working in China (Nanchang, Shenzhen and Beijing), I returned home to the US, founded GEI and turned my attention to developing, more fully, the type of secondary and tertiary learning environments the world's learners need. Of course, this also means training educators and administrators to “see and know” differently and to create assessments that are more thoughtful, worldly and wise. GEI is doing important, necessary, work; join our journey. Together, we will make a difference.

Yours, globally,

Jackie
